During Rebecca’s 12+ year career, she has produced, written, and directed 230+ digital and podcast episodes. Some of her proudest moments include: the award-winning docuseries “Voices of Woolsey”, the comedy series “The Power Couple” for Pureflix, English/Spanish/Ukranian health education videos for the Mass General Brigham hospital system and viral shorts for the LW show. Some other fun clients have been: WB Kids, DC Kids and Amazon News.
Rebecca got her film business foundation at the studios, as an executive assistant at Walt Disney Studios, Dreamworks TV, CW, Cartoon Network, OWN, and Discovery. Prior to this, she spent four years in the camera and production trenches, learning the ins and outs of every department and building the scrappiness that is needed for indie productions. She worked her way up from 2nd AC to director of photography and shot kids’ shows for DreamworksTV and Awesomeness TV. She also shot a documentary in Kenya called “Women Like Us”, about women equipping women to affect change in Kenya and the US in such areas as FGM, HIV, menstrual hygiene, and education.
Rebecca has a fire and drive to create deep, meaningful media, and a huge passion for fighting against injustices locally and around the world.
Rebecca has a Bachelor of Arts from Houghton University in International Relations and Intercultural Studies.
When not making movies, Rebecca loves playing with her goats, entering banjo contests, and making new friends dancing at Irish pubs.
Hedy loved to laugh!
Hedy Pictures Productions is about making the type of media that moves a soul. That brings love and laughter into the world. It’s namesake: Jadwiga Swiech Churbuck, or known by her friends as Hedwig or “Hedy”, always brought the fun to the party. She had a strong sense for life: that led to great storytelling, which she passed on to her daughter Alice, who in turn passed it on to her daughter, Rebecca.
